The G E Honey butchers

G E Honey & Son butchers is a family business currently being run by fourth generation Andrew Honey, his wife Rosalind and a team of five butchers assisted by his children, mother and uncle. The business is in the village of Parkham in the lovely North Devon countryside.

The shop is open all day Monday to Friday with a limited service provided on Saturday mornings. We deliver orders free of charge to households and businesses throughout the local area at least twice weekly. We can also send meat further away by courier service.

As well as operating a traditional butcher’s shop we also have our own small farm on which we keep beef cattle and a few pigs, all of which are sold through our shop when the time comes.

Our farm

Aberdeen Angus, Devons Red Ruby and Herefords

Our small farm is located on the edge of Parkham village with all the fields growing grass.

We stock only beef cattle, usually native British breeds such as Aberdeen Angus, Devons (Red Ruby) and Herefords.

Our farming methods are very relaxed and extensive, all though we can not officially claim to be organic we get quite close to that idea. If the cattle need feeding more than just grass they only receive rolled barley (bought from a nearby farm) and sugar beet.

When the time comes they are taken two at a time in our own small trailer to the nearest abattoir.

Gloucester Old Spot and British Saddlebacks

We also keep some pigs, usually rare breeds like Gloucester Old Spot or British Saddlebacks.

Opening hours

Monday to Friday 7:00am to 5:30pm, and 8:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday. Anyone not able to get to the shop during the day can place an order for collection at any time (within reason).
